Here, we restrict the script only to run on google and yahoo.

The interesting bit is this one here: // * SetInterval(() => document.querySelectorAll("img").forEach((tick) => tick.remove()), 1500) Removes the green ticks BitDefender puts next to search results This is my userscript, yours will obviously look different. Now we can pack the whole thing into a userscript.
Bitdefender uninstall tool loop code#
This bit runs our code every 1.5 seconds. So the easy way is to delay the code from running with the setInterval() method: setInterval(() => document.querySelectorAll("img").forEach((tick) => tick.remove()), 1500) It will run before the results are displayed and when the green ticks are finally loaded, our script will be finished already. If we pack this inside a userscript it’ll work, but it’ll be too fast. We just iterate over the Node List and remove each node. So our code becomes: document.querySelectorAll("img").forEach((tick) => tick.remove()) An array would’ve been nice, but it turns out a Node List is also iterable with a forEach loop. Wrapping upĭocument.querySelectorAll() returns a Node List.

The people selling you their “security products” got hacked.Ĭlearly, those people don’t know what they’re doing. I took the time and turned all those “features” off right at the installation and never used that browser plugin, but the audacity alone should be enough for everyone to uninstall their products. But only after someone exposed them publicly. “On Thursday and after this investigation, Avast announced it will stop the Jumpshot data collection and wind down Jumpshot’s operations with immediate effect.” Vice exposed them, and this is what they had to say, quote from Vice: If you didn’t know, Avast was collecting every click you made in your browser over several years. I switched to BitDefender after the recent Avast privacy apocalypse.

Ticks are always annoying, so let’s learn how to keep them in check… Leaving Avast It’s just a one-liner, but it’s a great introduction into writing userscripts. Today, we write a userscript that will remove them all. BitDefender puts a little green tick next to your google search results, which I find completely unnecessary.
